The Youth Leadership Program is an empowerment program that promotes leadership and service for middle school youth ages 11 through 15. This program is designed to teach the young adolescent important life skills such as leadership, responsibility, self-esteem, and community awareness. All enrolled participants will discuss age specific topics such as juvenile delinquency and other youth related issues. The Youth Leadership Coordinator helps provide positive reinforcement and intervention strategies needed in order to achieve a reliable basis for making good choices and guidance when faced with serious challenges such as judgment issues, dropping out of school, drug and alcohol use, all of which are essential for a positive future in our community. In addition, they meet socially to address these issues in a thought-out manner, and provide a structural way to achieve community-oriented goals such as service learning projects.
It is our goal to provide services for those middle school level children in areas of program career development and community leadership.
As a result, participants of the Jersey Shore PAL YLP will have the opportunity to visit and interact with other YLP leaders across the country.
The YLP program will be available to students from 6th to 9th grade.
Program dates, times and fees to be announced.
